Continue Cortlandt’s legacy of low taxes and top-notch servicesRobert believes in prudent fiscal management that incrementally raises revenues during periods of strong economic growth to avoid large, painful tax increases during downturns. He believes we should maintain our assets and engage in long-term planning for replacements and upgrades. He understands that these actions ensure healthy reserves to weather inevitable storms. Robert applied these principles while on the Lakeland Board of Education and, as a result, as our community was hurting during the unprecedented economic distress caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, for two years in a row Lakeland passed budgets with 0% tax increases – without cutting services.

Further develop Cortlandt’s use of technology to deliver services, improve efficiency, and engage with residentsRobert envisions Cortlandt as a twenty-first century leader in innovative local government technology. By harnessing all available technology to create more digital connections between citizens and town hall, Robert knows we save money, make government more responsive, increase cyber security, and position Cortlandt to move steadily ahead with the times.

Responsibly encourage growth in a post-pandemic world and beyondRobert believes we need to responsibly encourage growth in a post-pandemic world and beyond. He knows that growth for growth’s sake is never a good idea. That we must be careful not to exhaust the capacity of existing infrastructure simply to increase the tax base. That we can retain the character and diversity of our community while growing in a way that anticipates and accommodates future requirements, all while being mindful of local neighborhood needs. Robert will fight for a coordinated regional approach to growth as economic, social, fiscal, transportation, and environmental issues are not contained within municipal borders.
